Book Spine Poetry #NaPoWriMo18 #NPM2018

girl in a library

Girl in a library
So many books
A little salvation

wide open grassland

Wide open grassland
No horizon is so far
where rivers change direction
Lost in the sun
Where the bluebird sings to the lemonade springs
Peace is every step

2 or 3 things i know for sure

Two or Three Things I Know For Sure:
You are here
You learn by living
If not now, when?
This life is in your hands.

These are great book spine poems. I amazed that you have so many books with verbs in the title. That is always my stumbling block with book spines. I get caught up in imagery and wordplay and then don’t have any verbs!

I challenged myself to use some of my unread books rather than favorites. I had many false starts and rejected book stacks after just the problem that you identify emerged: wordplay with no verbs!

Hooray for book spine poetry! The titles are so evocative that now I want to read more!

Evocative is the perfect word for book spine poetry. I love how distilled they are and how they hint at much bigger thoughts. They’re a little bit addictive to create too! I forced myself to wait til the end of the month because I knew if I made them earlier, I’d want to make book spine poetry every day!

Wonderful spine poems. I can’t pick a favorite. Love them all. I can see life on the prairie in the second and a reader in the first and intentional living intge third. I’m not surprised that evenin writing spine poems yours surpass most others.

What a compliment, Glenda! Thank you! Such a fun form to play with.
