I’m joining Trina Haase at Trinarrative for a daily haiku challenge this month.
Today I sat on the floor in the hall at the high school waiting for my son’s basketball practice to wrap up. I was reading Jane Hirshfield’s book on Basho’s haiku, while wrestlers thundered up and down the hall. In the spirit of finding haiku anywhere, I wrote a couple about them:
boys run by in socks
saving their soft wrestling shoes
for the mat
overheard in the hall:
“you are shaped like a rock star.”
reassurance for wrestlers
