Nail Polish Poetry: Playing with Poetry #playingwithpoetryNPM 8/30

This month, I’m tagging along with ChristieMargaretJoneMary Lee, and other writers to play with poetry for National Poetry Writing Month. I’ll be creating poems using haikubes, metaphor dice, magnet poetry, paint chips and anything else that catches my fancy–including nail polish colors.

I enjoyed the nail polish poem I wrote a couple of days ago and decided to challenge myself to write a more serious one, which is actually really hard with nail polish colors, as they tend to be punny, goofy, and racy–sometimes all in the same color! But here’s my attempt, using mostly color names by Essie, OPI, and Sally Hansen. Once again, each line is a nail polish color name.

find me an oasis
sunshine state of mind
serene slate

was it all just a dream?
island in the sun
salt water happy

mindful meditation
making harmony
above the clouds

dreams need clarification
