Things I Like/Dislike 20/31 #sol23

Things I Like: cats, very hot baths, the smell of rain, daffodils, checking things off a list, gingko trees, dark chocolate, writing by hand, Macbooks, Jane Austen, reading challenges, walking, roadside attractions–the stranger the better, stationery supplies, graffiti, spelling bees, catching all the green lights, underdogs, libraries, people watching

Things I Dislike: olives, sitting by the fire, long nails, washing my hair, sleeping in, PCs, running, alarms and bells, parties, FOMO, sour candy, the smell of Sharpies, crossword puzzles, writing in books, lined paper, reading slumps, making phone calls, disturbing a sleeping lap cat

**************

Today’s idea came from Britt, who used a Susan Sontag text as a mentor for her lists.

Love it! I found myself nodding at times and pulling back startled at times! Hahaha! Olives! I love olives. I don’t like PC’s either but that is because I am an Apple person. I wondered what you didn’t like about them?

I also like this format and plan to use it before the end of this challenge. We share some common likes (cats) and some common dislikes (olives).

I have a story about sour candy. Not a favorite of mine either, but I recently had a weird medical event. My left gland near my jaw line swelled up and hurt when I ate. I went to Urgent Care. Nothing wrong. But the nurse practitioner must have googled and found that it was a blocked salivary gland. The prescription: sour candy. It worked!

I love this, and I am sure we will see many of these lists in these last few days! Have you ever read the middle-grade series The Genius Files by Dan Gutman? It’s an adventure series where a family travels across the country stopping at all these unique places along the way. I had to Google them to make sure they were real! Your roadside attractions made me think of it!

I love this format and will certainly use it – like maybe tomorrow! Yet, I love sour candies, a warm fireplace, and crossword puzzles!

I had a similar reaction as Suzanne: I nodded along & grinned (Austen, writing by hand, lists), but olives are on the dislike list – oh no! I love olives. I also love crosswords and sleeping in… What a fun slice & I love the link to Sontag (and Britt). I might need to use this as mentor text in the future.

Such a fun format. I guess that I know what my slice will be about tomorrow!

I learned some new things about you today. I love the randomness of your lists. 🙂

Yes to the cats and daffodils. And I do dislike those reading slumps. This looks like a fun format. I read one today where the writer wrote so much in the “like” column that she stayed with just the likes. Thanks for sharing this.

I love this format, and it brings out so many comments as people realize their similarities and differences with your likes and dislikes. And, reading your comments, it sounds like olives are a real polarizing force! Who knew? 😂 (I am Team No Olives, but I like crossword puzzles.) I, too, am very fond of cats, walking, libraries, and ginkgo trees, and love that I discovered the word for the amazing smell of rain – petrichor!

Love this! I saw Britt’s first but wrote about this today! Love your lists. They were inspiring to me.
