Found Etheree 3/30 #npm23

This found poem, written in the form of an etheree, comes from Ezra Klein’s inspiring podcast interview with poet Jane Hirshfield. All of the words were used by either Klein or Hirshfield to describe reading or writing poetry.

Poetry

A
state of
reception
an openness
a sequestration
chemical reaction
vessel of transformation
monastery of consciousness
different condition of being
A fascination, I mean a yearning

Monastery, the word choices are delicious.

Just wanted to poke my head in and say that I’m loving all these beautiful poems showing up in my inbox—I’m always a little sad at the end of March when I stop getting to read your SOL posts, so these poems are so exciting! Thanks for sharing, Elisabeth!

I’m so fascinated by these etheree poems that continue to pop up across blogs. The word selection in your poem creates a soft rhythm with all of the -ion words punctuating the end of lines with the change in the last line working as icing on a cake.
