Today’s idea comes from NaPoWriMo, a blog that has been sharing daily poems and prompts to celebrate National Poetry Writing Month since 2003. The Day Seven prompt instructs writers to “write a poem that plays with the idea of a list.”

A List of Things I’ve Forgotten
appointments, anniversaries, birthdays
groceries
the days of the week
occasionally, the year
whether i took my vitamins
to pay the bills
to make that phone call
your name
my purse
my driver’s license
my keys
the secret you told me last week
most of my childhood
whatever you asked me to do

For my National Poetry Project, I’m playing along with the poetry calendar created by Margaret and Molly.
