Tanka 21/30 #npm23

Today I’m playing along with Laura Purdie Salas’s Digging for Poetry National Poetry Month project. This is a fun challenge each day, as Laura draws a game board card with five words that could be possible topics and then shares a handful of magnetic poetry words. Using her Day 19 topics and words, I decided to try a tanka with the main goal of simply making sense without cheating and adding different words!

frantic monkey mind
like a delirious mist
encourages fear;
drive her away and picture
bare blue sky of conscious life

    What a calming poem! I especially love the way you begin with ‘frantic monkey mind’ and then ‘drive her away’.

    I like that ‘delirious mist’. I’ve tried to do some with Laura, such fun to see what happens with the word choices!

    Oh, how I can relate to the frantic monkey mind! But the pairing of this photo and your poem instantly brings me peace. 🙂 Love it.
